No problem, and I see your point.
You might create a portfolio of all the work you've done and promote that on sites like LinkedIn, Upwork or Fiverr. Those are the places where you could reach clients for freelance (on the side). This way, you can build a network of your own that'll boost your goal of starting that design consultancy.
Or you can translate your experience into teaching.
It might feel like a step down in the beginning, compared to what you're used to, but it could also mean a new, exciting chapter. A direction of which you'll have more control.
People who are good at something will always be in demand, grey haired or not ;). Your work and passion will speak for you, much more so than tattoos, mohawks and piercings.
